How did we get a corgi?

The dog who we know from the social media with short legs, breadbutt, who sleeps in strange poses.

How did we get a corgi?

The Corgi has little body, he is friendly and can be taught easily. They were used to guarding and herding cattle and sheep. We saw them first in Cowboy Bebop, a japanese anime about 5 years ago. It was love at first sight. We decided, we would like a corgi too. We moved abroad to a house with a garden, we think it will be good for a dog.
We searched for the first breeder in march of 2020. We wrote e-mails to or called every breeder that looked good in the country close by. These were about 20 Corgi Kennels. We got answers from 3-4 kennels. We would have had to wait with for a puppy or notify them of our need for a puppy in the spring of next year. Not to mention, that most of kennel chose wether you are suitabe for owning a dog after the personal meeting.
We started to plan a visit in June back home to Hungary in August, while we were searching and sending emails. We received an unexpected e-mail from a hungarian Kennel, which made us very happy, about two weeks before our visit. There is a puppy finally whom we can get. We had phone calls to arrange an airline ticket for the puppy. We could handle everything with KLM. They were helpful and fast. At the end we went home and we brought the badboy Togo home with us who then was 14 weeks old.

The first month

After We brought him home, We spent a week in Hungary. We visited family and got to know each other, playing games and we taugth some basic things to him. He was very good during the flight. He was sleeping in his carrier while the plane took off and landed, but he didn’t like the security check.
We visited the vet after our arrival in the Netherlands, the vet said everything was right. He got a vaccination for safety’s sake.
We had a problem with house-training at the beginning, but formed a system, so now we have problems very rarely.
He is learning very easily, but he is obstinate and must know what his holder wants. I think it’s worth to try using multiple methods for his teaching, if something doesn’t work after lots of tries. We were learning the „Pow!” but didn’t work for 3 weeks. Later I tried another method and he learned in one day.
He is a calm puppy, he goes crazy for 5 minutes twice a day only, then it’s worth taking him on a quick walk. He doesen’t like long walks, he is only dragging himself. He is ideal for a lazy owner, 1-2 times 15-20 minutes walk a day is perfect for the dog and his master.

Named after

The Togo name gets it’s pride from the sled dog, who traveled in Alaska 420 km from Nome in three days, and picked up the diphteria serum in Shaktoolik in 1952.

 End

We didn’t regret searching and trying for more than half a year. We have a cool dog with it’s own personality and ego, who is very funny, lovely and he is a piece of our family, if we walk with him outside we will surely hear this sentence: OMG, OMG Corgi!

The Venice of the Netherlands: Giethoorn

An unmissable spring and summer program if you visit the Netherlands. This small Dutch village is known for its bridges, waterways and points. It was called the “Venice of the Netherlands”. Giethoorn is elongated and consists of three neighbourhoods. Farms and houses are separated by canals. History Giethoorn was a settlement of peat farmers, but later they switched to animal husbandry. The canals were originally dug to drain peat and were used for transport and traffic, but they became increasingly important for agriculture. Many houses were built on islands, so to speak, which can only be reached by bridges. More than 176 bridges were built in the village, but most of them are privately owned. Getting there The village is located in the northern part of the Netherlands. It takes a little more than an hour and a half to get there by car from Amsterdam. Parking lots are scattered throughout the village. There are free ones, but there are also paid ones. At least 2 hours by public trans...

Dog friendly place in Amsterdam

The good weather is here, summer has finally arrived! But where should we go with our dogs if we want to head into the city? Here is a dog-friendly place we visited today with our two little furry friends. If you're in Amsterdam and looking for a dog-friendly restaurant, don't miss Woof & Me . Located not far from the city center, it is easily accessible by foot and tram. This place not only offers delicious meals, sandwiches, drinks, and coffee for people but also has a special menu for our four-legged friends, including chicken liver treats, whipped cream, and biscuits. Dogs can roam freely in the restaurant, as it is safely enclosed, so the pups are always in sight and can't run away. The friendly and pleasant environment of the restaurant is the perfect spot for relaxation and enjoyment, where dogs can socialize and play with other dogs. Of course, you can also visit without a dog if you just want to be around them for a while. The staff is attentive and animal-fri...
